The federal member for Algoma Manitioulin Kapuskasing is calling on the federal government to cancel cuts in the Joint Emergency Preparedness Program. Carol Hughes makes the request on the heels of the final report dealing with the mall collapse inquiry in Elliot Lake. The federal cuts were made two years ago. However, Hughes says the final inquiry report suggests a stronger federal commitment to search and rescue teams in urban centres.
