Traffic Stop Leads To Seizure of Over 30 Pounds of Marihuana

Driving too slowly on Highway 17 has led to the arrest of a man for having pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.

Around 1:00pm yesterday afternoon, a police patrol saw an eastbound vehicle travelling too slowly on Highway 17 and they pulled it over near Algoma Mills.

During the traffic stop, the officer detected an odor of suspected marijuana, so they arrested the driver and searched the vehicle.

Police found two hockey bags containing over 30 pounds of suspected marihuana in vacuumed sealed bags and marihuana cigarettes, valued at around $68,000.

A 33-year-old man from Halifax, Nova Scotia faces a several charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking and driving without a licence
