The MPP for Algoma Manitoulin believes the OPP will use the final report on the mall collapse in Elliot Lake to advance their criminal investigation. Mike Mantha says it only makes sense that the police would do this. He says to do otherwise would be foolish on the part of the OPP.  Mantha says the report could shed light on information the OPP have not had up to this point or enhance information they already have.  Mantha also understands why the police will only tell the public that their investigation is ongoing and nothing more. He says if the OPP disclosed everything that they have to date it could interfere with their case and potentially jeopardize the investigation. In his report, Justice Paul Belanger found that people turned a blind eye to the condition of the Algo Centre Mall and let ongoing leaks continue. Those leaks weakened the roof-top parking area over the years resulting in the collapse two years ago that killed two women.
