Elliot Lake Mayor Dan Marchisella says council had good reason to remove a fellow councillor from all committees and boards.
The Moose reported yesterday that council held a closed meeting Monday night and then publicly announced that Councillor Connie Nykyforak was to be removed from all committees and boards.
No reason was given at the time, but Marchisella has made a statement to The Moose.
Marchisella says Councillor Nykyforak’s observed behavior on some external boards and committees was progressively getting more disruptive, whereas Council saw the need to remove her from these areas in order to mitigate any future liabilities or damages to the municipality.
Nykyforak was not present when council made the decision.
City CAO Dan Gagnon says she is on vacation, which was just unfortunate timing and not planned that way.
