The Espanola Fibre Arts Festival received a $10,800 grant from the Ontario Arts Council through Craft Projects – Connections.
Festival co-ordinator Jody Pilon says the funding will be used to secure fibre masters to lead workshops, and help offset other festival expenses like marketing and promotions.
The committee now has the challenge to raise an additional $15,000 to cover the balance of the costs, so the festival committee is appealing for community sponsors and volunteers to help.
Espanola’s Fibre Arts Festival has experienced 800% audience growth in just six years with around 2,000 people attending last year.
The festival will be held October 17th to October 21st.
