Pele to look in tailings for rare earth elements

Rio Algom in Elliot Lake is giving Pele Mountain the right to take samples from its tailings management areas.  Pele is trying to determine if the tailings contain rare earth elements it can mine.  Rare earth elements are used in many electronic products and more than 90 percent of the rare earth world market is controlled by China.  Pele is trying to open a uranium mine in Elliot Lake which would include a rare earth elements component.
