First Nation Education Board elects executive

A new board and executive to oversee the delivery of education for First Nations, the Kinoomaadziwin Education Body, have been elected.

Catherine Pawis was acclaimed as co- chair and with her on the executive are co-chair Lisa Michano , treasurer Lauri Hoeg and secretary Evelyn Ball.

The board is rounded out with representatives from the 23 member First Nation governance organizations.

The body is a not-for-profit corporation that the Anishinabek First Nations approved by Grand Council resolution in 2010.

The board is continuing to work towards the start-up date of April 1st for self-governance of education, including First Nation communities along the North Shore corridor and Manitoulin Island.
