Mining company Vale says the Coleman Mine near Levack is expected to be back in production in mid-February, after being shut down last year for repairs.
The company announced in mid-November, it was suspending work at the mine, due to critical repair work to the shaft’s ventilation compartment.
According to a news release, the company originally said the repairs would be done by December.
The company also stated based on recent inspections, the mine won’t re-open until mid-February.
For employees whom work is not available, the company is topping up EI benefits through a supplemental unemployment benefits plan.
