This is National Fire Safety week and throughout Canada fire departments are preaching fire safety. In Espanola, fire chief Mike Pichor and his people are getting the word out especially when it comes to smoke alarms. However, Pichor says despite ongoing campaigns, some people are endangering themselves. Pichor says it may be hard to believe but there are still people who don’t have working smoke alarms in their homes. Espanola firefighters are visiting local schools this week telling students the importance of having a working smoke alarm.
