Espanola councillor takes break from campaign to help others

Incumbent Espanola councillor Stewart Meikelham has to take a break from his re-election bid.  Meikelham  is off to Kashmir in India to help restore that region’s drinking water.  Meikelham is a water expert and this isn’t the first time he’s provided help to another nation.  Last December an island in the Philippines was decimated by a typhoon and officials knowing about Meikelham’s expertise called him for help.  The Kashmir region is controversial but Meikelham says he’s not going there to promote a political or religious agenda, but rather to help the people.  The councillor will be gone for about three weeks.
