After sitting as a councillor for one term, Tom Farquhar is going after the mayor’s seat in Elliot Lake. Farquhar won’t comment directly on incumbent mayor Rick Hamilton, but he says a major issue the community faces is leadership. He believes he can restore that leadership as mayor. Farquhar says leadership is achieved by being positive and by caring for the community. He says the message he keeps hearing as he campaigns door-to-door is that Elliot Lake needs positive, clear and definitive leadership. Farquhar says he’s approaching the issue of leadership with the philosophy the very best he can do is the very least voters can expect. The next candidate Moose FM will l talk to in the Elliot Lake municipal election race is deputy mayor Al Collett who is also seeking the mayor’s seat.
