Signage is up for not feeding foxes at Espanola cemetery

The signage is up at the Espanola cemetery not to feed the foxes.

About two months ago, Espanola councilor Ron Duplessis reported that he had received several complaints from visitors to the cemetery about foxes that were a bit too familiar with them.

Duplessis said people had been feeding the animals since Spring and the foxes have lost their fear of humans.

However, Duplessis says it not the appropriate location to be feeding wild animals.

Council approved signage, which clearly states no feeding allowed.

Feeding them is an offence under the Trespass to Property Act.
The charge under this act is for engaging in prohibited activity on premises and the fine is $50 + $10 victim fine surcharge and $5 court cost, so the total of the charge would be $65.
