Elliot Lake Police Report: Assault and theft

East Algoma OPP in Elliot Lake was called out to investigate an assault that took place last Thursday. Police say the call came at around 12:30pm Thursday from Oakhill Road in Elliot Lake.
The complainant reported being assaulted by another man while delivering papers on his route.
The suspect later turned himself in to police.
The 24 year old from Elliot Lake is now facing an assault charge.
He is to appear in Elliot Lake court on December 5th.

In another unconnected investigation, an Elliot Lake man is facing a charge of theft following an incident late last week.
East Algoma OPP in Elliot Lake responded to a theft call at a local grocery store last Wednesday.
The complainant reported viewing the store video surveillance after a suspicious male was shopping in the store.
The security video showed the man putting food merchandise in his pocket and then leaving without paying for it.
After the police investigated further, the man was found and arrested.
The 51-year-old from Elliot Lake was charged with theft under $5,000 and is to appear in Elliot Lake court on December 5th.
