An Espanola homeowner and his son have lost everything to a residential fire yesterday afternoon.

The Espanola Firefighters were joined by the Baldwin Township counterparts on the scene of a trailer fire late yesterday afternoon.

The home has been gutted at Unit 16 on the main thoroughfare.

Espanola Fire Chief Mike Pichor says the fire is still under investigation and the cause is still unknown.

Pichor adds there is extensive damage to the exterior by the main entrance, the roof and the kitchen area. Also the floor has water damage.
The owner was not insured.

Tim Roberts and his son, Alex Roberts-Piche escaped the fire, but only managed to save a few pieces of clothes.

A go fund me account has been set up by family members to help the two recover from their loss.

The loss of the home and contents is estimated at around $40,000.

This is the sixth fire in Espanola since July, but there is no connection between them, with the exception of the Queensway Motel.

The motel had to be closed in July due to a fire in the living quarters.

A second fire broke out in late summer, but Chief Pichor says the Ontario Fire Marshall office is still investigating that incident.
