Both Espanola and Elliot Lake councils have vacancies to fill on their councils.

Espanola council agreed at their regular meeting last night to fill the vacancy by appointing the next candidate with the highest votes, met all requirements and was willing to accept the position.

That could be Heather Malott – Dougan who told The Moose she will take the position if she meets the requirements.

That decision is expected to be made by the next meeting two weeks from now.

Meanwhile, Elliot Lake council accepted the resignation of Scot Reinhart at their regular meeting last night.

They have agreed to fill the vacancy by appointing the next candidate in line who meets all requirements and is willing to accept the position.

The city approached Kevin Kucey, the next in line, but he has asked for some time to consider the matter.

Council agreed.

Elliot Lake council also swore in their newest councilor, Ed Pearce, who filled the vacancy left by Candance Martin who resigned just over a month ago.
