Tenders Out For New Triple School in Espanola

Construction of the new triple school in Espanola is slated to begin next Spring, 2018.

The tender finally went out last week for the building of a new school to house elementary English Catholic students, as well as elementary and secondary French Catholic students.

EPOH architect Franco Pastore told the Huron-Superior RC Board last week that the site will also include day care spaces for up to 120 youngsters.

Pastore said it is expected to take up to two years for the school to be built with a budget of $23.8 million, with Huron-Superior paying $10.5 million as its proportion of the cost.

The request for tenders went out September 7th.

Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board and Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario are working together to build a new two-storey, 79,800-square-foot building on the seven acres of land on Mead Boulevard where Sacred Heart once stood.

It will eventually house Sacred Heart elementary, Ecole secondaire catholique Franco-ouest and French Catholic elementary students; Ecole St. Joseph.

Sacred Heart students are now housed at AB Ellis Public School.
