Imagine celebrating 70 years of marriage – an Espanola couple is doing that this week!
Irwin and Orpha (Sloss) Duxbury of Espanola celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Monday, September 11th, 2017.
Originally from Manitoulin Island, the two moved into the Queensway Place Assisted Living complex in Espanola this past June.
An afternoon tea was held with friends and family Monday to celebrate the milestone, and an earlier celebration was also held at the Espanola Legion.
Both raised on Manitoulin Island, Irwin had stints as a carpenter and hydro worker before working with the Ministry of Transportation for some 30 years.
Orpha was a stay at home mother in Tekhummah.
The two have one son and four daughters, and are blessed with seven grand-children and eight great grand-children.
The two said the secret of their successful marriage is give and take.
