Espanola police chief to retire

After 31 years as a police officer, Espanola chief Bob Towns is retiring.  Towns will make it official on January 1st.  Towns has served his entire police career in Espanola and actually started out as a police cadet with the department back in 1978.  He took over as chief in 2009 after long-time chief Ray Freeman retired.
