A tradition returns this weekend to Thessalon, Blind River and Elliot Lake with another performance from the OPP’s Golden Helmets Precision Motorcycle Team. The 20 motorcycle cops are in Elliot Lake Friday evening in the Lower Plaza for a 6:00pm free performance. On Saturday they head to Blind River for a 1:00pm show on Woodward Avenue next to the Town Park. Thessalon sees the Golden Helmets at noon Sunday on Main Street. The officers ride the motorbikes used for regular patrol which in this case are 800 pound Harley Davidson vehicles. Keep in mind if you’re taking in the Elliot Lake performance, the Lower Plaza closes at 5:00pm so the OPP can set-up. People still shopping at that time have to park at the Rexall or on Horne Walk.
