No one was hurt, but it was still a scary incident when a light fixture fell onto the ice at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie. The equipment fell Wednesday night just before the Soo Greyhounds were going to take to ice for a training session. City officials believe a metal clip that keeps the light secured to a bracket broke allowing the fixture to fall. However, a more detailed investigation will be carried out to determine the exact cause. Following the accident, the city secured all ceiling lights at the centre with added safety features to avoid a repeat of Wednesday`s incident.
