Ontario’s Regional Chief says the upcoming NAFTA talks between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico must include First Nations. And Isadore Day says recognition and standing at the talks can’t be just token representation. Day says the addition of National Chief Perry Bellegarde is a positive step. However he adds First Nation interests can’t be represented by a single voice. Day says the various Indigenous communities expect to have their voices recognized otherwise they will see the NAFTA talks as illegitimate.
