Three Island First Nations receive FedNor money

FedNor is giving three First Nations on Manitoulin almost $900,000 for economic opportunities and health benefits.  The MP for Nickel Belt announced the federal grants.  Marc Serre gave the M’Chigeeng First Nation the largest amount at $712,000.  M’Chigeeng will use the money to help its business people develop and grow their businesses.  M’Chigeeng Chief Linda Debassige says the funds will help create new opportunities in the area and help attract tourists.  The culture and recreation centre at the A-OK First Nation is getting $100,000 for cultural, health and fitness programs.  Lastly, $50,000 is earmarked for the Sheguiandah First Nation to improve its cultural park.
