It’s not just the Opposition parties that are calling the Wynne Liberals hypocrites over the Avista deal announced last week. Keith Moyer of Elliot Lake has sent a letter to MPP Mike Mantha of Algoma Manitoulin calling the Liberals and Hydro One hypocrites. His letter appears in the Sudbury Star. Hydro One is buying U.S. energy producer Avista for more than $6 billion. The problem is Avista is a major coal producer and the Liberals bragged about getting us out of coal years ago only to put us back into it. Moyer says Hydro One wants to increase rates for equipment upgrades yet it has money to buy Avista. His suggestion is that the utility spend the Avista money on its existing infrastructure instead of zapping us with another increase. Moyer adds the Opposition parties also need to do something about this now.
