Maybe it’s because we’re getting closer to winter, but salespeople from Just Energy selling energy contracts are appearing in the north. In Sudbury, police have fielded many complaints over aggressive behavior to sell consumers long-term contracts. Some homeowners are being told they’ll be reported if they don’t let the sales rep in their home. Sudbury police say you don’t have to let these people in and if they refuse to leave, they can be charged with trespassing. Another tactic is the salesperson tells the homeowner their current energy provider is going out of business and Just Energy is taking over the contracts. Police say this also isn’t true. They add these are high pressure tactics to get you to sign with them.
