New Democrats question wisdom of Ontera sale

A federal New Democrat is weighing in on the controversy over the provincial Liberals selling Ontera to Bell Aliant.  Charlie Angus, the MP for Timmins-James Bay, believes competition will take a hit once Bell becomes the only telecommunications provider in the north if the sale goes through.  Angus has expressed his concerns to the Competition Bureau which is investigating the proposed sale.  Also worried is NDP MPP John Vanthof  for Timiskaming-Cochrane.  Vanthof says the province built the communications system in the north because the private sector wouldn’t and now it’s just being handed over at a fraction of the cost.
