Blind River hospital reduces admitting hours

Faced with a significant deficit, the Blind River District Health Centre has reduced admitting services by one hour.  The hospital’s admitting desk now closes at 10:00 p.m. instead of 11:00 p.m.  If you need admission to the health centre after 10:00 p.m., patients have to go to emergency.  Hospital CEO Gaston Lavigne says the hospital needs to find savings and the goal is to reduce costs that have the least impact on patients. The hospital receives fewer admissions late at night so that helped make the decision easier on where one service cut could be made.
