In a bid to make highways on Manitoulin safer, the OPP and Ministry of Transportation carried out a two-day blitz targeting commercial vehicles. The MTO laid 33 charges and they include big trucks with steering system issues. As for the police, they laid 15 charges and among them are stop sign violations and speeding. Police also found that three of the transport drivers they stopped were driving while suspended. Both agencies plan to carry out a similar blitz again in the future.
