A scam that is still around is the romance con, where a crook forms a relationship with someone online then asks for money. The OPP say the victims are single or recently unattached people and that includes seniors. The scammer chats with the unsuspecting victim online and in a very short time tells the person they’re in love. Next the scammer tells the victim they need money because something bad has happened. Police are urging the public not to fall for this because no one is really going to say they love you after a few e-mails. They say don’t send these people any money and don’t discuss personal information online.
