Elliot Lake man fined for illegal wolf hunting

An Elliot Lake man has been fined$1,500 for wolf violations.  The court was told Todd Underwood was moose hunting north of Elliot Lake last October when he shot a wolf.  He didn’t have a wolf seal so he bought one in Elliot Lake but didn’t attach it to the dead animal.  After first moving the wolf around, he then gave it to a friend and eventually the carcass was dumped in the bush.  It had never been skinned and the pelt became spoiled.  The court was told Underwood obstructed the Conversation Officer investigating the shooting by giving false statements.  The fines include $500 for obstruction, $750 for hunting without a wolf license and $250 for transporting illegally killed wildlife.
