MPPs may be away from Queen’s Park for the summer, but it doesn’t mean they’re vacationing. For example, Algoma Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha has been busy restoring a road transportation link in the northwestern part of the riding. The Caramat Road is a 93 kilometre stretch of highway that links the town to Manitouwadge. The roadway has re-opened to drivers after being closed for several months eliminating the need for a long detour. The mayors of both communities and Mantha lobbied cabinet ministers for quite a while on the need to keep the road accessible.
