King questions College Drive repair method

Councillor Mark King wants to know why reserves weren’t used for culvert and repair work on College Drive in North Bay following flooding.  Instead of dipping into reserves, staff re-directed money it’s not spending on other projects because they’re being deferred.  Judy Koziol agrees with staff’s rationale as does the majority of council.  She says she trusts the engineering department to make the right move.  And at first councillor Mac Bain thought the same as King, and reserves should be used for the flood damage.  But Bain says it makes sense for staff to re-direct money from other projects because those projects can’t get done this year.  The unfinished projects will be re-budgeted for future approval.  The culvert repair work will cost $200,000.
