Sudbury park dedicated to teenager killed by a drunk driver

A new park in Sudbury is being named after an 18-year-old killed by a drunk driver. The DJ Hancock Memorial Park has a splash pad, and a green space with benches. Dean, DJ, Hancock was killed when the impaired driver crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic on Highway 17. It happened in August of 2014.

Thirty-nine-year-old Walter Carter pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death, and was sentenced to five years behind bars.

The park is on Walford Road, beside Lockerby Composite School.
