Cop saves woman from suicide

A Sudbury police officer is being credited for stopping a young woman from committing suicide by jumping off the Paris Street Bridge.  Detective Ryan Johnson first tried talking the 19-year-old out of suicide.  But when it looked like she was ready to jump, he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her to safety.

Police became aware of the incident thanks to two off-duty nurses who saw the teen dangling her feet on the bridge.  The nurses called 9-1-1 and Johnson was the first to arrive.  Before his arrival, the nurses talked to the distraught teen in an effort to calm her down.  The woman is now under hospital care.
