Some children in hard-hit or poor countries will benefit this Christmas from the generosity of residents in Northeastern Ontario. In total, 7,300 shoe boxes containing Christmas presents are on their way from Sudbury to Kitchener where they`ll be put on shipping containers and sent to countries like Ukraine, Haiti and Chile. In the Elliot Lake, Blind River, Espanola region about 400 shoe boxes were put together. That`s a 30 percent increase over last year. The boxes also include a cheque for $822 from cash donations.
