A study is about to begin in Northern Ontario examining the financial impact miners with lung cancer have had on their caregivers. Doctor Nancy Lightfoot, out of Sudbury, is examining the issue. Lightfoot needs six people from Elliot Lake and 10 from Sudbury to take part. Lightfoot says a major goal is determining how caregivers coped with the financial impact of caring for a former miner with lung cancer.
