Elliot Lake will be hopping this weekend. Saturday it’s the North Shore Strongman Competition at the Centennial Arena. Just north of town at Mississagi Provincial Park it’s Lumberjack Days. The two-day event features nail driving contests for kids, log rolling and axe throwing. In Blind River, the town holds its annual Rocking on the River concert. The special guests are the Blues Brothers Showcase Band. And speaking of blues, there’s a blues concert in Walford. The event features area talent and the proceeds go to the Espanola Mental Health Clinic. The concert takes place Saturday just next to the town’s community hall and begins at 1:00 p.m.
