Bears put down by police in separate incidents

In Elliot Lake, OPP have shot and killed a nuisance bear.  The bear was trying to break into a storage shed on Washington Crescent when police were called.  It was chased to another property across the street but was persistent in trying to come back to the shed.  An officer made the call to put the bear down in a neighbour’s backyard not far from the first property that houses the storage shed.  Meanwhile, a 60-year-old woman from Guelph is recovering after a bear attacked her and a friend near Timmins.  The women were walking in a cottage area near Matheson when the bear attacked one of them.  Police shot the bear because it was behaving aggressively.
