The federal NDP’s mine critic says Tuesday’s budget ignores the Ring of Fire. And Claude Gravelle adds despite the fact Northern Ontario wants the chromite discovery to go ahead, he says the feds aren’t listening. Gravelle says not only does the federal budget fail to mention the Ring of Fire, it doesn’t allocate any money towards it. However Natural Resources minister Greg Rickford told Moose News the budget creates a $23-million fund to develop cost effective extraction technology for chromite. Gravelle is just back visiting the Ring of Fire. With him was former Ontario NDP leader Howard Hampton who the New Democrats hired as a special advisor to the Ring of Fire.
