If you want to see incredible motorcycle precision, make sure you`re in Elliot Lake or Blind River the second week of September. That`s when the OPP Golden Helmets make a return appearance to both communities. The Golden Helmets perform first in Elliot Lake on Friday, September 8th in the Lower Plaza at 6:00pm. They then head to Blind River the next day for a 1:00pm show next to the Town Park on Woodward Avenue before leaving for Thessalon for a performance on Sunday.
Twenty riders make up the precision team. They perform tricky manoeuvres on 800 pound Harley Davidsons that are used during regular highway patrols. The Golden Helmets were formed in 1963 and visit about 30 Ontario communities each year from June to September.
