Addictions services on Island changes location

The Noojmowin Teg Health Centre at the AOK First Nation on Manitoulin is the new home for addictions services.   The service used to be provided by the Manitoulin Health Centre.  But the North East Local Health Integration Network says Teg is able to meet addictions needs because treatments have changed over the years.  Teg’s executive director, Pam Williamson, says the organization has a wide range of services to address a person’s addictions which may also involve mental health issues.  And the President and CEO of the Manitoulin Health Centre, Derek Graham, says the situation was right for the switch.  The hospital had provided the addictions services for 17 years prior to the change in location.
