Forest Fire Fines Increased

The maximum fines for starting a forest fire in Ontario have increased.

You can now be fined up to $25,000s for starting a forest fire, and corporations can be charged up to $500,000. The province says about half of all forest fires are started by people.

This is the first time the Fire Region has increased these fines since 1968.
