Sudbury Politician Passes Away

Sudbury has lost its second prominent politician in less than a week.

Dave Kilgour, who was a former mayor of Capreol and a regional city councillor, passed away over the weekend.   Kilgour was a good friend of Marc Serre, the MP for Nickel Belt.  The two were friends despite their political differences; Serre is Liberal while Kilgour once ran for the provincial Tories in Nickel Belt.

Serre says Kilgour was a man of integrity who wanted nothing more than to bring growth to Greater Sudbury.  Serre says Kilgour made many personal sacrifices over the years to help the people he served and adds he’ll be missed.

Kilgour was a retired school teacher whose political career spanned nearly 40 years.  Last Wednesday, long-time former Nickel Belt MP and former Sudbury Mayor John Rodriguez passed away at the age of 80.
