Espanola man fined $2,500 for bear hunting violations

An Espanola man has been hit with a hunting ban and fines totalling $2,500 following an illegal bear hunt.   Danile Courtemanche was bear hunting without a license in Willisville last October when he shot a small black bear.  Investigators with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry told the court Courtemanche fired three shots down and across a road.  That kind of shooting is illegal and Courtemanche was fined $1,500.   He was also fined $1,000 for the license infraction and he can’t hunt for the next nine months.
