Hughes critical of federal budget

The federal budget is getting a rough ride from the NDP’s Carol Hughes of Algoma Manitoulin Kapuskasing.  Hughes says Northern Ontarians struggling over jobs and household debt will be disappointed with Wednesday’s budget.  Hughes says the budget fails to create good, full-time jobs and does little to address inequalities among First Nations.   The New Democrat also says we have a strained health care system and the budget doesn’t address this meaning nothing will happen to help lower drug costs.  Hughes does like that the feds will be spending $11-bilion on housing.  However, the problem she says is the cost will be spread over the next 11 years and that means about 90 percent of the funds won’t be spent until after the next election.
